Aspiran 159 documentales a nominación al Oscar

México, 13 Nov (Notimex).- Un total de 159 películas aspiran a una nominación al Premio Oscar 2020 en la categoría de Mejor Documental, informó la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas de Hollywood.

De acuerdo con Variety, entre los filmes inscritos destacan American factory, de los directores Julia Reichert, Steven Bognar;  Apollo 11, de Todd Douglas Miller; For Sama, de Edward Watts, Waad Al-Kateab; y The biggest little farm, de John Chester.

Así como Echo in the canyon, dirigida por Andrew Slater; The edge of democracy, de Petra Costa; Linda Ronstadt: The sound of my voice, de Rob Epstein, Jeffrey Friedman; One child nation, de Nanfu Wang, Lynn Zhang; Sea of s​hadows, de Richard Ladkani, y Where’s my Roy Cohn?, de Matt Tyrnauer.

La Academia aclaró que varias de las cintas aún no han tenido su requerida exhibición de siete días en Los Ángeles y Nueva York, como lo marca el reglamento de los premios.

En ese sentido, dijo que las películas enviadas deben cumplir con los requisitos de estreno en salas y cumplir con el resto de las reglas de calificación de la categoría antes de que puedan avanzar en el proceso de votación de nominaciones.

El 16 de diciembre próximo se dará a conocer una lista de 15 películas de la cual saldrán las postuladas. Los filmes que competirán por el Oscar se anunciarán el 13 de enero y los galardones se entregarán en una gala el 9 de febrero en el Dolby Theatre de Hollywood.

El documental Free Solo, de los realizadores Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, Jimmy Chin, Evan Hayes y Shannon Dill, fue el ganador de la estatuilla de la Academia el pasado 24 de febrero.
